Time to Make Time Work for You

Author: Martin Haworth

Of all the topics that are raised in arenas where management are discussed, Time Management is one of the most frequent, Here's some great thoughts on why - and how you can find great solutions to the issues raised.

Time management in itself has proved to be an important element of modern-day business management (of activities) . To attain the highest performance standards and quality in your management career, you've got to get this right.

There are some skills which may need a little practice, or your capacity to manage your time adequately would stay very tricky. So we need to take a look at what's involved, so that we can take the best shot at getting it right.

There are lots of ideas on the subject around. There are some great books, like Mark Forster's "Get Everything Done and Still Have Time to Play" and many resources online too. Not forgetting that many management related organisations and colleges hold classes that are often great value.

It is always worth looking at a local college which might have something to suit you - especially if they have links with one of the major business schools, though these days, mini-topics such as Time Management are offered as modules which are free-standing and can be used one their own.

Remember that just a little thought about how you spend your time will often kick-start the change process. If you 'notice' how things are, you will be far more inclined to start to make little changes that will make all the difference.

For a couple of hints, remember that you can always assess those things that you personally don't need to do - this often indicates that you are finding 'nice-to-do' rather than necessary to do things - for yourself to enjoy, which is OK, as long as it isn't getting in the way of where you best add value.

A great way of looking at time management is to consider what you would do if you only had half the time in your week - where would you best spend that time. Concentrates the mind, doesn't it?

If you are faced with challenges about managing your time, remember that if you keep doing the same thing, you are likely to get the same results. Making changes will often deliver outcomes which are far better than what you've been putting up with.

No one can make sure that you do time management better. It's rather down to you to step up and be counted!

Thanks for taking a look at me! I work with people to help them realise their potential and make the most of their life. I also help managers to get the very best from their people, to make their businesses, teams, departments, whatever, to be successful.

Usually this is through my 'Coaching Managers to Coach' workshops, delivered worldwide, which includes experiential and hot-seat coaching for all participants - a great, fun learning experience. Click the big green link panel on any of the website pages!

There are over 1000 hints and tips, and that doesn't include the blog, which is updated pretty well daily, if not more often!

With a background in team management of groups from 6-300 and a great ICF coaching accreditation, I reckon I'm almost unique in my experience and training to make this work for you.

So take a look, checkout my other articles and maybe even set the blog page as a favourite:-) And, you know, if you want to get in touch, give me a call. I'll talk about almost anything, but I love helping people make the best of their workplace. Or e-mail me through the contact page on the site.

Ooops, I nearly forgot, I do manager soft-skills analysis with a programme called 'Intercept' and if you just want some one-to-one business coaching, I do that too. There's also a button on the navigation bar on the website pages for that too.

Fees, well, let me see, can I say that we can work something out? That's the way I work.

Thanks for happening by!

Martin
