The Flashback bedding collection is a good choice for anyone looking for something new and original. Flashback is a high quality bedding collection with pricing ranging from $290 to $340 for the four-piece set. While certainly on the high end price-wise compared to other national brands of crib bedding, the fabric quality and workmanship of Flashback bedding more than justifies the price for those who can afford it.

Flashback comes as a four-piece set which includes a quilt, bumper, crib skirt, and fitted sheet. There is also a five-piece option with your choice of a pillow or diaper stacker available. All pieces are also sold separately. The collection is made from a 60/40 cotton/poly blend and is machine washable. As with most bedding collections, accessories are available to enhance the nursery. Two common accessories are not available in the Flashback pattern, which are a hamper and wall border.

The Flashback collection is a genuine patchwork design, in which each patch or fabric is sewn together to create the pattern; as opposed to patchworks in which the "patches" are on the same fabric and the stitching makes it appear as though the patches are independent of each other. The quilt is comprised of several squares of each of the four fabrics used in most of the bedding accessories - two shades of textured velvet, mocha and tan, and two printed fabrics in circles and squares. The printed fabrics are tightly woven and appear to be thicker and higher quality than most fabrics I've seen.

While I generally avoid commenting on the designs themselves, I must confess to have developed a special affection for Flashback during the course of my product review. I believe that Glenna Jean has selected the perfect fabric designs to communicate a very playful atmosphere without using the heavily themed approach seen in most other bedding collections.

The quilt has a fleece backing along with black velvet cording around the edge. The bumper, while in one continuous piece, is 10" high and features ties on both the top and bottom. An interesting feature of the bumper is the patchwork pattern appears on both sides of the bumper. In most cases, the inward facing part of the bumper features the patterns used in the collection, while the outward facing area is a plaid or another striped fabric used as a background. The crib skirt features the tan textured velvet with a 15" drop. The fitted sheet is made from soft brushed cotton.

Because Flashback merchandise is assembled in the United States, it can be particularly appealing for Canadian customers purchasing from a US retailer. It can be shipped to Canada duty-free, thereby avoiding charges of 17% or more of the purchase price that apply to bedding manufactured in China or India.
