Men often misunderstand how women award points to their man in a relationship. They think that to really show how much they care for and love their significant other they need to do something really extravagant but little do they know that women pay just as much importance to the little things you do for them.

You can demonstrate your love for her in the form of a variety of small gestures.

1. Ask her how her day was. It is no secret that most if not all people enjoy talking about their lives. Expressing an interest in her career or other areas of interest and listening carefully to what she has to say will let her know that you are interested in her thoughts and care about her feelings. Women love a good listener.

2. Cook for her. More often than not women are the primary cooks in the relationship and giving her a night off from her usual kitchen duties is always a welcomed gesture. But I cant cook is not an acceptable excuse. With their being so many cooking books and websites available

3. Remembering and celebrating a small occasion is another nice gesture that women appreciate. Its always nice to celebrate on big occasions but if you remember the anniversary of another special day the woman in your life will be completely caught by surprise. For example celebrate the anniversary of the day you brought home your new puppy with a trip to a dog park.

4. Give her compliments when they are unexpected. Women expect compliments when they put a lot of effort into their appearance but letting her know you think she is beautiful while shes running errands etc, demonstrates that you see her inner beauty shining through at all times. However, dont always make compliments about her physical characteristics. She will get bored of hearing them constantly and they will start to mean less and less to her. Be imaginative.

5. Hand over the remote control and let her watch what she wants. Dont hog the TV all the time. A staggering amount of women find this to be one of the most annoying habits in men. Allowing the woman in your life to watch the shows she wants without complaining about her choice will show her that you respect her taste.

6. Get to know her family and friends. Woman value their relationships and she will be pleased about the fact that you are taking an interest in the other special people in her life.

7. Write her a love letter and mail it. You know how you hear people saying that even though email and phone calls are quicker, there is nothing like a hand written letter. Sure maybe she sees you every day but a love letter is something that she can save in a special place and will cherish.

8. Be chivalrous. As much as women enjoy being independent small chivalrous gestures are always appreciated. Small gestures like opening the car door for her, letting her sit down first while on a bus or subway car will show her that you want to protect and care for her and will make her feel loved.

9. Surprise her at work by showing up for a lunch date. Women love to be surprised and your lunch date will give her the opportunity to get out of the office for a little while and enjoy some time with you.

10. Leave small notes around the house. Someplace where you know she will be sure to find them, under her favourite coffee mug for instance. The notes dont always have to be about how much you love her they can just be random doodles you drew. She will find this so incredibly cute.
